The Richland Library Company will present Walter E. Baum: Close to Home, an exhibition of paintings by the celebrated Bucks County artist, running November 21, 2026 through April 30, 2027.
Drawn from the private collection of a local Quakertown collector, the exhibition features more than 30 of Baum's original paintings, pastels, drawings and more. Many of the works are of familiar local scenes and landmarks, as well as the people who surrounded him. The exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to experience the evolution of both Bucks County and mid-century art through the eyes of Baum, one of its most devoted interpreters.
Richland Library Company was founded as a lending library in 1788. From its inception it was a subscription-based library, serving as the source of reading materials for many generations of area residents. Over the past two hundred years, the Richland Library Company has received many local historical items, family trees, mementos, photographs, and other items. While the library no longer lends books, it endures as a respected research facility for preserving items of local history and culture, while maintaining these items to promote and facilitate genealogical and historical research.
