Bucks County Genealogical Society

The Bucks County Genealogical Society, based in Doylestown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, began with an organizational meeting on October 8, 1981.  From its inception, the BCGS endeavored to promote genealogical research and compile and preserve information of historic and genealogical value.  Many volunteers worked to gather and publish tax lists, church, pastoral, and cemetery records; tombstone transcriptions, excerpts from newspapers, ahnentafels, and other resources.  The BCGS also published the Bucks County Genealogical Society Newsletter beginning in 1981, and The Journal from 1997.  After many years of dedication to promoting genealogical research in Bucks County, the BCGS dissolved in 2013.  The wonderful research library assembled by the Bucks County Genealogical Society, along with the rights to its many publications and other resources, have been turned over to the Richland Library Company of Quakertown.  The Richland Library Company will honor the work of the BCGS by continuing to publish The Journal as a biannual digest dedicated to local history and genealogy.
